Student, 2 others nabbed over drugs

AUTHORITIES have arrested a senior high school student and two other suspects in separate anti-drug operations in Eastern Visayas.

Alias Chocoy, a Grade 11 student, was rounded in Catbalogan City after he allegedly sold dried marijuana leaves weighing 1.12 grams to an undercover police operative.

On Wednesday, July 7, 2021, police also nabbed a street-level individual (SLI) in Barangay 37-A Palanog, Tacloban City.

During the buy-bust operation, Alias Jun, 42, yielded a sachet believed to be containing shabu, marked money, and two other sachets of shabu.

The recovered drug items weighed MOL 1 gram with a total market value of P6,500, police said.

In Catarman, Northern Samar, another 34-year-old SLI from Barangay Ipil-ipil was apprehended after he allegedly sold a sachet of shabu worth P1,000.

Operatives confiscated from the suspect another three sachets believed to be containing shabu during the buy-bust operation on July 6.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being readied against the suspects. (SunStar Philippines)
