Village captain shot dead in Baybay City

AN UNIDENTIFIED gunman shot dead a barangay captain in Baybay City Monday, July 20.

The victim was identified as Andres Celedio Cruz, 46, married and chairman of Barangay Sherwood in Albuera, Leyte.

Police said the shooting incident happened around 8:45 a.m. Monday in Zone-10, Baybay.

Initial investigation revealed that Cruz was standing in front of Immaculate Conception Church when the gunman approached the victim and shot him, hitting him in the different parts of his body.

Cruz was brought to Western Leyte Provincial Hospital in Baybay City but was declared dead around 9:25 a.m. Monday by the attending physician.
