1 dead, 1 hurt in Zamboanga City gun attack

ONE person was killed while his companion survived although wounded in an “ambush-style” attack around 7:35 p.m. Sunday at Purok 6B, Recodo village, Zamboanga City, the police said Monday.

The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) identified the fatality as Emar Saripah, 29. Wounded was Suharto Jumat, 22.

Investigation showed the victims were aboard on a motorcycle traveling from the inner portion of Purok 6B towards the highway when unidentified gunman shot them in a dimly lit area.

The police said that three empty shells of caliber .45 pistol were recovered from the crime scene.

The suspect was last seen fleeing towards Purok 7 of Recodo village, the police said.

Investigation continues in a bid to establish the motive as well as the identities of the suspects behind the incident, the police added. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
