1 dies, 2 hurt as 2 motorbikes collide head-on

ONE person died while two others were injured when two motorcycles collided head-on along the national highway in Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Saturday, February 20, 2021.

The Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Police Office reported that the incident happened around 3:30 p.m. Friday in Balugo village, Imelda, in that province.

The police identified the fatality as Edelberto Padres, 21, the driver of one of the two motorcycles. Wounded were his back rider, Jullian Mejares, 17, and Angelito Lindero, 53, the driver of the other motorcycle.

Investigation showed that Padres and Mejares were traveling from the town of Siay to Diplahan municipality while Lindero from Balugo village to the town proper of Imelda town when they collided head-on while traveling at high-speed.

The police said Padres was declared dead by the attending physician at the Lancheta Hospital in Imelda.

Both Mejares and Lindero, who sustained injuries, were hospitalized, the police said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
