A SEPTUAGENARIAN was killed while two others were injured in a highway accident in Zamboanga del Norte province, the police said Thursday, July 5.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, disclosed the incident occurred around 8:40 p.m. Wednesday in Kayok village, Liloy town.

She identified the fatality as Cresencia Vidal, 71, who was rushed but failed to reach the hospital alive.

Wounded were Junrel Cabillar, 23, motorcycle driver; and Prederic Ojano, 20, the back rider.

Galvez said investigation showed that Cabillar failed to see Vidal crossing the national highway since the motorcycle he was driving does not have headlight.

Cabillar and Ojano crashed on the pavement as the former lost control of the steering bar after they bumped Vidal.

Galvez said Cabillar and Ojano as well as the motorcycle are now under the custody of the police in Liloy. (SunStar Philippines)
