1 of 2 shootout suspects surrenders

ONE of the two gunmen involved in a shootout Monday night, January 24, 2022, in Kasanyangan village, Zamboanga City, voluntarily surrendered to the local police, an official said Wednesday, January 26.

Police Colonel Alexander Lorenzo, Acting Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, identified the suspect as Agga Sahi, 30.

Lorenzo said Sahi voluntarily surrendered to the operatives of ZCPO's Station 6 Tuesday afternoon, January 25, in Calarian village, Zamboanga City.

Sahi was detained at ZCPO's Station 6, while the other suspect, a certain Saldimar, was still at large.

Sahi and Saldimar engaged in a shootout Monday night in Kasanyangan village that injured four people, including two children.

The victims were buying street foods when hit by stray bullets. They were hospitalized.

Lorenzo said that manhunt continues to arrest Saldimar. (SunStar Zamboanga)
