12 hurt in road mishap

TWELVE persons, including five children, were injured when the bus they were riding flipped over in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, a top police official said Friday, April 29, 2022.

Police Colonel Albert Larubis, Zamboanga Sibugay police director, said the incident happened around 9:25 a.m. Friday in Purok Malipayon in Langon village, Tungawan town.

Larubis identified the victims as the following: Tito Molina Reyes, driver; Earl Rufino Savillano, conductor; Nerissa Lucman Guling, 32; Mary Joy Villegas Lampios, 21; Shada Banguih Dela Torre, 25; Ma. Oliva Cena Planos, 27; Maverick Cena Señava, three months; John Olivan Señava, four; Gracelyn Villion Chiong, 37; Gervin Chiong Alvarez, nine; Merl Chiong Alvarez, five; and Sophia Chiong Alvarez, two.

The other three victims were not identified. They were unharmed and went home to their respective residences.

Larubis said the victims were injured after the bus they were riding swerved and flipped over in Purok Malipayon, Langon village, Tungawan when Reyes avoided collision to an incoming sports utility vehicle and lost control of the steering wheel.

He said the victims were taken to the Tungawan Rural Health Unit treatment. (SunStar Zamboanga)
