TWO suspected big time drug personalities were arrested while some P3 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in a drug bust in downtown Zamboanga City, Monday afternoon.

Lawyer Jackelyn De Guzman, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency regional director, said Majannang Ahadani, 51, and her son, Junjun Barlie, were arrested shortly after 1 p.m. Monday along Rajah Soliman Street in Barangay Zone IV.

They were arrested after they sold some P900,000 worth of suspected shabu to an undercover agent.

Seized from them were some 500 grams of suspected shabu packed in 10 medium-size plastic sachets with an estimated market value of P3 million, P900,000 marked “boodle money,” and illegal drug paraphernalia.

De Guzman said they knew the suspects were in the illegal drug trade based on information from “concerned citizens.”

“We did an information build-up until such time we managed to gather full information about their operation (on illegal drug trade),” she added.

De Guzman believes the suspects had long been involved in the narcotics trade since they can immediately provide large amount of suspected shabu.

She further said the suspects already have regular buyers in the city since they even transact in the downtown area. (SunStar Philippines)
