2 die, 1 hurt in highway collision

TWO persons died and another was injured in a “hit and run” highway collision in Zamboanga del Sur province.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said the incident happened around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 4, 2019, along the highway in Balintawak, Pagadian City, the capital of Zamboanga del Sur.

Galvez identified the fatalities as Bryan dela Peña and Aljun Andales. Dela Peña was declared dead on arrival at a hospital while Andales expired while

undergoing treatment.

Injured was Roel Salvador, who was taken to the Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center.

Galvez said the victims were aboard a motorcycle with Andales as the driver. They were traveling to the town of Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur when they were struck by an unidentified vehicle which immediately sped off towards Pagadian City.

She said investigation continues in a bid to identify the other vehicle. (Bong Garcia)
