2 die in head-on collision

TWO people died in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a truck in an east coast village of Zamboanga City, the police said Saturday, March 28.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said the incident happened around 7:30 p.m. Friday at Sitio Mala in Bolong village.

Galvez identified the fatalities as Reynald Delos Reyes, 16, motorcycle driver, and Jayson Araneta Fernandez, 24, the back rider. Both were residents of Bolong.

She said they died on the spot after they were bumped head-on by a truck driven by Joel Padri Amaro, a resident of Guiwan village, this city.

Galvez said investigation showed the two vehicles collided after the truck encroached the lane to the motorcycle while traveling on opposite direction.

She added that Amaro is now under the custody of the Police Station 3 for proper disposition. (SunStar Zamboanga)
