2 ‘lechoneros’ hurt in gun attack

TWO “lechoneros” were wounded in a gun attack late Saturday in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported.

The Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Police Office identified the victims as Eduardo Tayong, 42 and his son, Janskie, 15. Both were hospitalized.

The police said the victims were aboard a motorcycle on the way home around 6:30 p.m. Saturday from the town proper of Kumalarang to the village of Mahayahay when repeatedly shot by one of two men riding tandem on another motorcycle that tailed them.

The police said the victim has just came from their roasted pig outlet at the time of the incident.

The police said the father and son victims, although wounded, managed to escape to safety and were later taken to the hospital for treatment.

Investigation continues in a bid to establish the motive as well as unmask the identities of the suspects, who fled after the incident, the police said. (SunStar Philippines)
