TWO motorcycle-riding men were arrested by police for illegal possession of firearms in Zamboanga City.

Police Captain Edwin Duco, Zamboanga City Police Office information officer, identified the arrested men as Eddiefil Remroza, 40, of Bungiao village, and Darwin Arabani, 37, a resident of Baliwasan.

The two were nabbed around 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, in the village of Campo Islam, west of Zamboanga City.

Duco said the policemen were manning a checkpoint when the suspects, aboard a motorcycle, suddenly made a turnaround to avoid the checkpoint.

The two, however, were arrested by policemen positioned as spotters several meters away from the checkpoint.

They were caught possessing a caliber .45 pistol with two magazines loaded with 18 ammunition and one motorcycle with no registered plate number.

Duco said the suspects were detained while appropriate charges are set to be filed against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
