2 nabbed, guns seized in drug bust

JOINT police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives have arrested two people and seized firearms in an anti-drug operation in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Friday, July 26.

The Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office identified the arrested suspects as Tonton Ontong Alisaine, 28, and Asbi Mohammad Sabdani, 39, both residents of Ipil, the province's capital.

Alisaine and Sabdani were arrested in a drug bust around 6:30 a.m. Thursday, July 25, in Purok Gemelina, Barangay Tenan, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Confiscated from them were 5.5 grams of substance believed to be shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) packed in three medium and two small sachets, two caliber .45 pistols with ammunition, P165,500 cash suspected to be proceeds money, and P500 marked money.

The suspects were detained while appropriate charges are set to be filed against them. (SunStar Philippines)
