2 nabbed in anti-drug operation in Zamboanga City

TWO newly-identified drug personalities, one of them wounded, were arrested, while P250,000 worth of shabu were seized in an anti-drug operation in Zamboanga City, the police reported Tuesday, June 30.

Police Brigadier General Jesus Cambay Jr., Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the arrested suspects as Jainudin Alanjina Itin, 50, and Nilma Amirul Sildin, 26.

Cambay said that Itin drew a handgun and fired at the cops upon sensing they were transacting illegal drugs with undercover policemen in a drug bust around 8 p.m. Monday in Arena Blanco village.

Itin missed his target and was hit when the policemen were quick to return fire. He was hospitalized, while his cohort was detained.

Confiscated from the two suspects were 36.79 grams of shabu with an estimated value of P250,000, a caliber .45 pistol with four ammunition, and P500 marked money.

Cambay said charges are set to be filed against the two suspects for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition. (SunStar Zamboanga)
