2 nabbed in anti-drug operations

TWO persons, including a high-value target drug personality, were arrested while some P72,500 worth of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in two separate anti-drug operations in the cities of Zamboanga and Isabela.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Reynante Abian, 52, and Baser Asula, 33.

Galvez said Abian was arrested in a drug bust around 5:50 p.m. Sunday in Tugbungan village, Zamboanga City. Seized from him were some P68,000 worth of suspected shabu packed in 10 heat-sealed plastic sachets and P1,000 marked money.

The police officer said Asula was arrested in a drug bust at 9:40 p.m. Sunday in Diki Village, Malamawi Island, Isabela City, the capital of Basilan province.

She said Asula is listed by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) as Top 2 high-value target and is also in the drug watch list of the Isabela City Police Station.

Recovered from Asula were some P4,500 worth of suspected shabu and P300 marked money, Galvez added.

She said the suspects were detained while appropriate charges are set to be filed against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
