THE Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in partnership with the municipal government of Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay released five wildlife avifauna back to the wild in that province.

The DENR regional office said in a statement that released in a reforestation area at Palomoc village, Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay were three Philippine Serpent Eagle and two Brahminy Kite.

“The reforestation area is a safe home for the wild avifauna as the place is a co-managed area of DENR and LGU (local government unit) Titay,” the DENR said.

The five avifauna were released last week after undergoing rehabilitation process and proper care at the DENR Regional Wildlife Rescue Center in Baclay village, Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur.

The five wildlife avifauna were rescued in the provinces of Zamboanga Sibugay and Zamboanga Del Sur.

The release of the five wildlife was supervised by personnel from the DENR regional office, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office-Zamboanga Sibugay, Protected Area Management and Biodiversity Conservation together with the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources of Titay and Bantay Kalikasan of Titay.

Meanwhile, the DENR continues to remind the public to report any wildlife that is held in captivity, accidentally or intentionally through its official page and contact number.

The DENR said that wildlife species are protected by Republic Act 9147 otherwise known as the “Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act” of 2001. (SunStar Zamboanga)
