THE Army's 51st Infantry Battalion (IB), in collaboration with partner agencies, has distributed support sustenance to 37 former rebels in the province of Lanao del Sur, the military reported Friday, August 27.

The former rebels were remarkably delighted as each of them received 25-kilo sack of rice, dry food, and canned goods. The goods were distributed on Tuesday, August 24, in Gacap village, Piagapo, Lanao del Sur.

Major John Mark Onipig, 51IB executive officer, said the Philippine Army is beyond military operations.

"This is just part of the benefits you have in the government. This is a calling to all who are still struggling in the armed group, you are all welcome to come back to the authority and let's achieve peace without violence," Onipig said.

Piagapo Vice Mayor Ali Sumandar expressed his appreciation to the Philippine Army for the noble service given to their community.

Sumandar told the residents to always coordinate with the Army, especially to 51IB, in order for them to achieve the goals and peace development in their community.

The support sustenance was distributed in collaboration with the Municipal Government of Piagapo and the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process. (SunStar Zamboanga)
