4 Abu Sayyaf Group members surrender

FOUR members of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) have surrendered to authorities in the province of Sulu, the military reported.

Rear Admiral Donn Anthony Miraflor, Naval Forces Western Mindanao (NFWM) commander, said the four ASG members surrendered on Friday, September 29, 2023, through the concerted efforts of the NFWM personnel in collaboration with the Joint Task Force (JTF)-Orion and Ministry of Public Order and Safe in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MPOS-BARMM).

Miraflor said the ASG surrenderers were identified as Jimmy Ibnohajar, Jul-Amin Subuhani, Juksin Subuhani, and Dhenmar Jamiul.

Miraflor said the four ASG surrenders turned over four high-powered firearms consisting of a caliber .50 Barret rifle, two Garand rifles, and an M16A1 rifle with assorted ammunition.

Miraflor and a representative of MPOS-BARMM presented the four ASG surrenderers to Vice Admiral Toribio Adaci, Jr., the Flag Officer in Command of the Philippine Navy at the headquarters of the NFWM in this city.

He said the four ASG surrenderers were taken to Camp Navarro General Hospital for medical check-up and were later turned over to the JFT-Orion for proper disposition.

He said they were initially given food assistance and will be enrolled with the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program of the government for ASG surrenderers.(SunStar Zamboanga)
