FOUR policemen were slapped with punishment after they were caught Monday, January 24, using cellular phones while on duty, which was a violation to a standing order of the command.

The imposition of punishment is pursuant to the guided platforms of Police Colonel Alexander Lorenzo, acting ZCPO director, on the intensified internal cleansing campaign of the Philippine National Police (PNP), especially to the ZCPO personnel.

Lorenzo pointed out that the use of cellular phones while on duty compromises the safety and security of their area of responsibility.

The four policemen, whose names were withheld, were ordered to do callisthenic exercises as punishment for their acts of misconduct.

They were also ordered to comply with the standard haircut of the PNP.

Lorenzo said they were referred to the Discipline, Law, and Order Section (Dilos) for the imposition of appropriate administrative sanctions.

He added that the immediate supervisors of the four policemen will also be subjected to administrative sanction for failure to supervise their personnel. (SunStar Zamboanga)
