4 hurt in 2 highway mishaps in Zamboanga

FOUR people, including two students, were injured in two separate highway collisions in the eastern part of Zamboanga City, the police said Wednesday, October 10.

The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) identified the victims as Latip Isnilon, Rodel Isnilon, 14, and two students namely, Jayboy Casimiro, 18, and Ivan Reyes, 12.

The ZCPO said the two Isnilons, aboard a motorcycle, were injured in a collision when their motorcycle encroached the lane of the incoming passenger bus riven by Jomar Capisenio around 4:40 p.m. Tuesday in Curuan village.

The police said the bus was traveling from Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay to Zamboanga City while the motorcycle from city proper to the village of Muti at the time of the incident.

The Isnilons were brought to the Cristino Paragas Memorial Hospital in Quiniput village and later were transferred to a hospital downtown, the police added.

Meanwhile, Casimiro and Reyes were injured in a collision of two sports utility vehicles (SUVs) at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday in Culianan village.

The police said the two students were thrown out of the vehicle they were riding driven by Juan Alfaro, 63, when it was bumped on its side by another SUV driven by Francis Clair Zamora, 46.

Aside from the two students, the other passenger of the vehicle driven by Alfaro was his wife Sonia. The couple were unscathed. The students are Alfaro’s nephews.

The police said collision occurred when Alfaro slowed down and was about to turn left. Zamora was tailing them at the time of the accident.
