FIVE municipalities in the province of Maguindanao received P2.3 million cash incentive each as they successfully pass the eligibility criteria of the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) 2019.

Lawyer Naguib Sinraimbo, Minister of the Interior and Local Government in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MILG-BARM), who led the awarding ceremony on Thursday, August 6, said the PCF is given to local government units that passed the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) 2019.

Sinarimbo said the awardees are the municipalities of South Upi, Guindulungan, Datu Piang, Shariff Aguak and Datu Abdullah Sangki in Maguindanao province.

Sinarimbo said that among the criteria are good performance in the areas of financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, peace and order, business friendliness, tourism, culture and the arts, and environmental protection.

Meanwhile, this year’s SGLG awarding will be suspended according to Sinarimbo “because the focus of national government and the LGUs (local government units) is diverted due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.” (SunStar Zamboanga)
