6 drug personalities surrender in Maguindanao

SIX drug personalities have surrendered and turned over high-powered firearms to military in Maguindanao, officials said Tuesday, February 25.

Lieutenant Colonel Elmer Boongaling, Army's 33rd Infantry Battalion commander, said the six surrendered Monday, February 24, in the town of Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao.

Boongaling did not release the identities of the surrenderers but said they were involved in illegal drug activities in central Mindanao.

He said the suspects handed over one Ultimax 100 mark III caliber rifle, one M-16 Armalite rifle, one M635 rifle, one M-79 grenade launcher, and one 9-mm Uzi sub-machine.

The surrenderers were placed under the custody of police in Maguindanao for proper disposition. (SunStar Zamboanga)
