6 fishermen nabbed for illegal fishing

SIX fishermen were arrested for illegal fishing activities in a west coast village in Zamboanga City, the police said Tuesday, May 26.

The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) identified the arrested fishermen as follows: Almalan Gajosta, 37; Venie Paraiso, 43; Rolan Larango, 37; Junrie Sogsoban, 29; Alberto Tumakas, 41; and Rody Cayabyab, 42.

The police said they were arrested around 7:50 a.m. Monday at the shoreline of Sinubong village, Zamboanga City.

The fishermen were arrested following receipt of report about illegal fishing activities in the area.

Recovered from them were one twin-engine motorboat, one compressor and 45 meters hose, the police added. (SunStar Zamboanga)
