6th most wanted in Sibugay arrested

A FISHERMAN listed as the sixth most wanted person in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay was arrested after hiding for some 20 years from authorities, the police reported Wednesday, December 21, 2022.

Police Colonel Eduard Mallo, Zamboanga Sibugay police director, identified the arrested wanted person as Bayjan Nieto, 56, a resident of Santo Niño village, Tungawan.

Mallo said Nieto was arrested in a law enforcement operation by way of service of arrest warrant around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, in Santo Niño village.

He said Nieto has a standing warrant of arrest for the crime of murder with no recommended bail dated October 25, 2002, issued by the court of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Mallo said Nieto was placed under the custody of the Tungawan Municipal Police Station for proper disposition. (SunStar Zamboanga)
