A TWO-DAY interactive training aimed to hone the professional and personal skills of local village health workers commenced Thursday, August 8, in Zamboanga City.

Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, City Health Office chief, said that some 70 village health workers are participating in the training, which ends Friday, August 9.

Miravite said the training is also aimed to maximize the implementation of Republic Act (RA) 7883, which grants benefits and incentives to accredited village health workers.

Miravite said they expected the village health workers to fully understand and implement the Implementing Rules and Regulations of RA 7883, as well as have the access to resources and opportunities that will hone their professional and personal skills being frontline workers.

She said RA 7883 is the Barangay Health Workers' Benefits and Incentives Act of 1995, which grants benefits and incentives to accredited village health workers for voluntary health services rendered to the community.

The two-day training is organized by the Gender and Development Unit under the Office of the City Mayor and is being held at a local restaurant in the village of Tetuan.
