90,000 children vaccinated as anti-polio immunization continue
THE City Health Office has already vaccinated 90,000 children representing 90 percent of its target in the conduct of “Sabayang Patak Kontra Polio” in Zamboanga City.
The “Sabayang Patak Lontra Polio” started November 25 and is set to end December 7, this year.
Dr. Dulce Amore Miravite, City Health Officer, said they are targeting to immunize against polio 103,000 children aged zero to 59 months and they have already vaccinated 90,000 children since the start of the campaign.
Miravite stressed the need to conduct the relentless vaccination because there are already eight children from different places in the country who were afflicted with the polio virus.
The patient of the latest recorded case of polio is a nine-year-old girl from Maluso, Basilan province.
The case of polio resurfaced 19 years after the World Health Organization declared Philippines as a polio-free country.
Miravite said they have established Patak Centers at the Integrated Bus Terminal, local wharf, malls, health centers and hospitals to be able to meet their target in the immunization campaign. (SunStar Zamboanga)
