TROOPS of the Army’s 97th Infantry Battalion (97IB) joined the conduct of Brigada Eskwela in Piñan, Zamboanga del Norte.

The Brigada Eskwela or the National Schools Maintenance Week is an annual activity led by the Department of Education (DepEd) where everyone in the school community, including the private sector, works together to prepare schools for the opening of the classes.

The troops of the 97IB, armed with grass cutters and brooms, assisted the other participants of the Brigada Eskwela at Piñan Central Elementary School on Tuesday, August 31, headed by Renelda Salatandre, the school principal.

The other participants of the activity were the teachers, policemen and parents of students.

During the activity, they were able to clean the school grounds, paint some parts of the schools, segregate garbage, clean scattered pieces of wood and conducted a mower.

This year’s Brigada Eskwela is anchored on the theme “Bayanihan Para sa Paaralan.” (SunStar Zamboanga)
