ANOTHER 72 underprivileged families from the old dumpsite area in the village of Lumbangan, Zamboanga City have received relief aid from the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Zamboanga Peninsula.

The beneficiaries, considered as those who are most in need, are the latest batch of underprivileged families who received relief aid from PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula as of April 16.

Police Brigadier General Froilan Quidilla, PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula director, said each of the recipient-family received four kilos of rice and assorted grocery items provided by personnel of the Regional Community Affairs Development Division intended for their daily sustenance.

Quidilla said that they choose the dumpsite area community as the beneficiary of the reached out program considering that they are one of most vulnerable sectors of society.

“These indigent families have been living along the dumpsite area wherein their everyday sustenance depends on their source of living. Some of their male members and even their partners are employed on farming jobs scavenging and construction activities,” Quidilla noted.

He assured that more indigent families will be given relief assistance by the various police camps and city and municipal police stations in the entire region funded through voluntary donations of police personnel as assistance to these families.

He said that the 72 families at the dumpsite area is just part of a thousands indigent families across the region who have benefited from the PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula’s “Adopt-a-Family” program--contribution to government efforts in easing the plight of indigent families who have been affected by the disruption of their livelihood amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) crisis.
