Bank exec nabbed in anti-drug sting

A BANK account officer was arrested in an anti-drug operation in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Wednesday, March 24, 2021.

Police Captain Edwin Duco, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspect as Rival Dahunan Cercado, 36, the account officer of the 1st Valley Bank in Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Duco said Cercado was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday in Sitio Sawmil in Poblacion, Tampilisan, Zamboanga del Norte.

Confiscated from the suspect were the following: P20,400 worth of suspected shabu; P500 marked money; a motorcycle; P10,000 cash in different denominations believed to be proceed money; and illegal drug paraphernalia.

He said the suspect was detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against him. (SunStar Zamboanga)
