THE Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm) is implementing a P400-million water system project that will benefit residents in 40 villages in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur.

Lawyer Naguib Sinarimbo, Interior and Local Government minister, and Governor Mamintal Adiong led the ground breaking ceremony Tuesday, July 6, signaling the start of the project.

“The water supply in Marawi City has always been a perennial problem. We have always requested for solutions to this,” Adiong said as he thanked the regional government for allocating P400 million to fund the project.

Sinarimbo said the implementation of the water system project demonstrates the continuing commitment of the Barmm to respond to the needs of the communities and partner with willing and able local government units in the region.

“It is also a fulfillment of the commitment of Barmm Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim expressed in his 12-Point Agenda that Marawi rehabilitation is a priority,” Sinarimbo said.

He said the regional government had handed over the checks representing 50 percent of the project cost to fast track its implementation. (SunStar Zamboanga)
