THE Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm) officially turned over Tuesday, September 29, a newly built coronavirus disease (Covid-19) treatment and monitoring facility in Nuro village, Upi, Maguindanao.

Barmm Inter-Agency Task Force Covid-19 spokesperson Mohd Asnin Pendatun said the construction of isolation facility forms part of the continuous efforts and strategies of Barmm to contain Covid-19 in the region.

"The materials used for the facility follow proper standards to benefit the hospital, the residents of the area, and the Barmm patients," Pendatun added.

The isolation facility, located in Datu Blah T. Sinsuat District Hospital, can cater to 100 asymptomatic and mild Covid-19 patients.

Minister Edward Guerra of the Ministry of Public Works in Barmm said the facility can be used by the district hospital to increase its bed capacity even after the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Ministry of Health has hired 58 health and administrative personnel to man the isolation facility through the Human Resource for Health Program Augmentation.

Similar isolation facilities being built by Barmm in the region's four other provinces of Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi are nearing completion. (SunStar Zamboanga)
