QUALIFIED residents of Sitio Bubong in Kalanganan II village, Cotabato City will soon have their own houses.

This, as the City Government of Cotabato and Ministry of Human Settlements and Development in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MHSD-Barmm) signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) Wednesday, July 6, for the construction of 50 housing units worth P31.7 million.

MHSD-Barmm Director-General Esmael Ebrahim and Cotabato City Mayor Mohammad Ali Matabalao are the signatories of the MOA.

The houses will be designed with a living room, kitchen, comfort room and two bedrooms, and will be completed with water and electricity connection. The project is funded through the General Appropriation Act of Bangsamoro (Gaab) 2022.

Matabalao said that since his assumption to office last week, Barmm has already poured roughly P900-million worth of infrastructure projects to Cotabato City.

On the other hand, Ebrahim said that aside from a new home, the beneficiaries will also get a certificate of land ownership.

He also mentioned that the MOA signing was historic as it was the first ever agreement Cotabato City Government has entered into with the MHSD-Barmm.

During the MOA signing ceremony, MHSD-Barmm also turned over the check amounting to P31.7 million for the implementation of the project.

The City Government of Cotabato and MHSD-Barmm will work hand-in-hand to ensure that the project will be fully implemented, and qualified beneficiaries will be identified. (SunStar Zamboanga)
