Bizman killed, pal unscathed in gun attack

A BUSINESSMAN was killed while his companion escaped unscathed in a gun attack in Pagadian City, the capital of Zamboanga del Sur province, the police reported Wednesday, September 23, 2020.

Police Captain Edwin Duco, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the fatality as Elias Cuestas Estano, Jr.

Estano’s companion at the time of the incident identified as Liza Abela Roa was unscathed during the incident that took place around 6:40 p.m. Tuesday in Purok GK Nazareth in Buenavista village, Pagadian City, according to Duco.

Duco said investigation showed Estano and Roa were about to disembark from their vehicle when one of two unidentified gunmen approached and repeatedly shot in their direction.

He said the suspects fled aboard a motorcycle after the incident.

Duco said Estano was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
