Businessman, 3 others nabbed in anti-drug stings

FOUR people, including a businessman, were arrested while closed to P100,000 worth of illegal drugs seized in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga City, police officials said Tuesday, November 29, 2022.

The police identified the arrested suspects as Berhamin Darong, 43, a businessman; Kimar Abdha, 38; Ronald Sala, 34; and, Cresencio Enecito, 41.

Police Major Sony Boy Perez, Zamboanga City Police Office’s (ZCPO) Station 6 chief, said Darong was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 1 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, in Tetuan village.

Perez said seized from Darong were some 12 grams of suspected shabu packed in three heat-sealed plastic sachets worth P81,600, a counterfeit P1,000 used as boodle money and one genuine P1,000 used as marked money.

Abdha was arrested by personnel of the 2nd Zamboanga City Mobile Force “Seaborne” Company (2ZCMFC) led by Police Corporal Dino Benito around 1:18 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, in San Roque village.

The 2ZCMFC personnel were conducting a checkpoint when they flagged down a motorcycle without registered plate number driven by Abdha for inspection.

The policemen immediately arrested Abdha when a plastic container the content of which is suspected shabu fell from the suspect’s hands.

Seized from the suspect were some 1.9 grams of suspected shabu packed in two heat-sealed worth P12,920, a motorcycle and a cellular phone.

Police Major Wilfredo Palamos, Jr., ZCPO’s Station 4 chief, said that Sala and Enecito were arrested in a buy-bust operation around 11:55 p.m. Monday, November 28, at Magnolia Lane in Canelar village.

Palamos said seized from the two suspects were some 0.5 grams of suspected shabu worth P3,400, a sling bag, a coin purse, a cellular phone, and a motorcycle.

The suspects were detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
