WITH less than week until the deadline of business tax payments, the Office of the City Treasurer is asking businesses that have had their permit applications assessed at the Business One Stop Shop (BOSS) to return and complete the payment of their business tax dues.

City Treasurer Romelita Candido reported that at least 2,500 assessed applications at the BOSS at Centro Latino remain unpaid.

As of Sunday, January 12, Candido said there are about 5,125 applications that have been assessed.

“We have noted around 51 percent lang del ya man assess have paid their taxes, leaving 49 percent - 2,550 – unpaid,” Candido, however, said.

She reminded applicants that deadline of business tax payments is on January 20 and that no extension will be provided.

She said that all applications and assessments received after the deadline will be subject to surcharge of 25 percent plus interest amounting to two percent per month.

Candido said she does not recommend extending the due date as she wants the practice of last-minute application and payment of business taxes curbed. (SunStar Zamboanga)
