Businesswoman dies, 2 unscathed in gun attack

A BUSINESSWOMAN was killed while two others were unscathed in a gun attack by motorcycle-riding assailants in Zamboanga del Sur, the police said Thursday, September 27.

The Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Police Office identified the fatality as Nellie Paso, 45, a resident of the village of Lilo-an, Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental.

Unscathed were Nielton Hemoros Cagas and Ma. Verlma Cagas, both household workers of Paso.

The police said the incident happened at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at Purok 3, Happy Valley village, Tambulig, Zamboanga del Sur.

Prior to the incident, the police said Paso and her two workers travelled from Lilo-an, Bonifacio to Happy Valley, Tambulig, to attend the mid-week mass at the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

The police said that Paso and her two workers were walking towards entrance gate of the church when the two motorcycle-riding suspects appeared and shot the businesswoman thrice.

The police said the businesswoman expired around 8 p.m. Wednesday while being treated at the Salug Valley Community Hospital.

The suspects riding tandem in a red motorcycle with no registered plate sped towards the town of Molave, Zamboanga Del Sur.
