Cassava farmers get livelihood intervention

THREE associations of cassava farmers in Indanan, Sulu have received livelihood intervention from the Department of Agriculture, through the Special Agricultural Area for Development (Saad).

The DA-Saad Sulu said that it received a total of 950 bundles of cassava stems as livelihood intervention for cassava production in Indanan.

The beneficiaries are the following: Sapah Malaum Saad Farmer's Association, 600 bundles of cassava stems; Bangalan Saad Farmer's Association, 300 bundles; and Pasil Saad Farmer's Association, 50 bundles.

The project intervention is funded under DA-Saad 2020, which aims to provide a source of income to Sulu farmers, as well as increase cassava production in the province.

Saad is a locally-funded program of the DA that is intended to help alleviate poverty among the marginalized sectors on agriculture and fishery. (SunStar Zamboanga)
