Coast Guard, 3 others nabbed in anti-drug stings

FOUR persons, including a Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel, were arrested in separate anti-drug operations in the Zamboanga Peninsula, the police reported Monday, May 3, 2021.

Police Captain Edwin Duco, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspects as follows: Zulpicar Tan, 32; Joseph Sta. Teresa, 36; Jimboy Galong, 40; and Dante Saysip, 40.

Duco said Tan, a PCG personnel and a native of Tawi-Tawi, was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 12:30 a.m. Monday in Cawit village, Zamboanga City.

Recovered from the possession of Tan were some P2,500 worth of suspected shabu and P200 marked money.

Duco said Sta. Teresa yielded some P4,400 worth of suspected shabu and P200 marked money when arrested in a buy-bust operation around 2:30 p.m. Sunday along Don Toribio Street in Tetuan village, this city.

He said Galong was arrested in possession of some P6,800 worth of suspected shabu and P200 marked money in a buy-bust operation around 3:35 p.m. Sunday at Torres Subdivision in Talon-Talon village, Zamboanga City.

He said seized from the possession of Saysip, a bus conductor, were some P6,800 worth of suspected shabu and P1,000 marked money when arrested in a buy-bust operation around 10:45 a.m. Sunday in Purok Panaghiusa in Monte-Alegre village, Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur.

He said charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects, who were detained. (SunStar Zamboanga)
