THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday, October 10, announced that all is set for the filing period of certificate of candidacies (COCs) for the mid-term elections in 2019.

Lawyer Stephen Roy Cañete, first district election officer, made the announcement as the first day for the period in filing of COCs starts Thursday, October 11.

Cañete said they have already arranged the local Comelec office to accommodate the aspirants who are set to file their respective COCs.

He said the filing period of COCs is during office hours from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. The period for the filing of COCs ends on October 17.

Cañete advised the aspirants to file their COCs early and with complete the documentary requirements, which includes notarization.

He said the COC forms can be downloaded from the Comelec website, www.comelec.gov.ph.

He said the local Comelec office is open on Friday, October 12, despite it being a holiday in Zamboanga City.

October 12 is a special non-working holiday in this city based on Republic Act 7350 since it is the feast day of Our Lady of the Pillar, the most revered saint of this city.

The feast is the highlight of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival. (SunStar Philippines)
