THE construction of the mega isolation facility for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) patients is now 90-percent complete.

The mega isolation facility is located inside the Zamboanga Economic Zone and Freeport Authority complex in Sitio San Ramon, Talisayan village, west of Zamboanga City.

Dr. Elmeir Jade Apolinario, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) chief, said the construction of the 320-bed facility is part of the City Government’s preparation to address the shortage of isolation facilities.

Apolinario said they are currently undertaking site development as well as looking into the power supply and water requirements of the facility.

He said the completion of the mega isolation facility will bring a total of 2,500 beds ready for use as the need arises.

“We hope not to use these beds because our goal is to reduce if not stop the further infections of Covid-19,” he said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
