Cop dies, 4 others hurt in Sibugay highway collision

A POLICEMAN died while four others, including another policeman, were injured when the motorcycles they were riding collided in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Thursday, November 24, 2022.

The Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula reported that the incident happened around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, along the national highway in Purok Mahigugma-on, Kauswagan village, Diplahan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The police identified the fatality as Police Patrolman Abduraham Nurbin of the Zamboanga Sibugay 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company.

Wounded were Police Patrolman Jhon Michael Gallardo, 30, also of the Zamboanga Sibugay 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company; Jhon Riel Torres; Reggie Dicen, 21; and Bernardino Luna, 32.

Investigation showed that Nurbin was driving a motorcycle with Gallardo as his back rider traveling from Barangay Poblacion to Kauswagan when accidentally bumped by the tailing motorcycle driven by Torres with Dicen and Lunas as his back riders.

The police said that Nurbin, who sustained severe injuries, was comatose and declared dead by the hospital’s attending physician while under treatment.

Gallardo as well as Torres, Dicen and Luna were injured.

However, Torres although injured, left the collision site, while the attending physician placed his two back riders, who were drunk, under observation. (SunStar Zamboanga)
