Councilor, government employee arrested

SEPARATE manhunt operations netted a municipal councilor and a government employee who were wanted for different crimes.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Wilfredo Palmero de Ocampo Jr., 50, a councilor in the town of Dimataling, Zamboanga del Sur; and Oscar Dangase Sagario, 58, an employee of the municipal government of Katipunan, Zamboanga Del Norte.

Galvez said De Ocampo was arrested around 11:30 a.m. Monday in the village of Buburay in Dimataling.

De Ocampo has standing warrant of arrest for attempted murder with P120,000 recommended bail. The warrant was issued on February 9, 2001 by the Municipal Circuit Trial Court of Dimataling-Tabina-Pitogo, Zamboanga del Sur.

Sagario was arrested around 11:15 a.m. Monday in Central Barangay, Dipolog City in Zamboanga Del Norte.

Galvez said Sagario was the subject of an arrest warrant for the crime of malversation of public funds and violation of Article 218 of the Revised Code of the Philippines with P46,000 recommended bail.

The warrant was issued on February 13, 2019 by the Municipal Circuit Trial Court of Katipunan, Sergio Osmeña town.
