LAWMEN have arrested a member of a crime group in a law enforcement operation in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Friday, December 2, 2022.

Police Colonel Diomarie Albarico, Zamboanga del Sur police director, identified the arrested crime group member as Morsed Damatu, 35, a resident of Purok Dumatu II in Calsada village, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.

Albarico said Damatu was arrested in a law enforcement operation by way of service of a warrant of arrest around 8:35 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, in Sitio Quarry, Benuatan village, Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur.

He said the arrested suspect is a member of the Ansang crime group, which is involved in kidnapping, drug trafficking, robbery, extortion, contract killing and other forms of criminalities.

Albarico said the suspect has a standing warrant of arrest for the crime of murder with no recommended bail issued by the court of San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur dated August 14, 2015.

He said the arrested suspect is now under the custody of Dinas Municipal Police Station for documentation and proper disposition. (SunStar Zamboanga)
