THE Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved the proposed Zamboanga City Waterfront Redevelopment Project for inclusion in the Assistance to Cities - Green, Green, Green program with a funding allocation of P74 million for 2018.

At present, the City Government architectural team is finalizing the project brief and documentation to pave way for the downloading of the funds and the consequent execution of the project.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, met with the architectural team composed of Architects Rizamay Basing and Rodel Falcasantos together with City Engineer Chris Navarro for a briefing and update on the proposal.

Originally, Salazar said the architectural team proposed the improvement of three key areas - heritage city zone, ecocity zone and the waterfront city zone for consideration in the DBM's Green, Green, Green Program for the development and improvement of public open spaces.

She said the DBM eventually approved the waterfront redevelopment, which will cover the R.T. Lim Boulevard baywalk to the Paseo del Mar area.

The chief executive said the project will include the reclamation of additional area in the boulevard. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
