POLICE authorities have launched manhunt operation to recapture a detainee who escaped from custody, an official said.

Senior Inspector Shellamie Chang, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) information officer, said the object of the manhunt is Saidil Aming Taup, a detainee of the Police Station 8.

Chang said Taup escaped at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at Purok 3 in Sinunuc village, 9.3 kilometers west of this city.

She said that Taup jumped off from a police vehicle while he and another detainee were being transported and escorted by Police Officer (PO) 2 Mohammad Dammang and PO2 Alden Ahamad from the Justice Hall to the Police Station 8.

Chang said Taup, although handcuffed, fled to the coastal community and remains at large.

She added that coordination has been made with other agencies in a bid to recapture Taup. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
