Ex-cop, partner nabbed in Zamboanga del Norte town

ILLEGAL drugs and paraphernalia were recovered from a former policeman and his common-law wife who were arrested in a law enforcement in a remote area in Zamboanga del Norte, the police said Thursday, November 21.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Mohammad Nur Saabdulla Asaali, 40, and his live-in partner, Maricol Bayotas Daim, 31.

Galvez said that Asaali, who was discharged from the police service, is a “newly reloaded watch list” drug personality.

She said the two were arrested after a search warrant was served around 4:10 p.m. Wednesday at Sitio Otso in Kilalaban Village, Baliguian, Zamboanga del Norte.

Galvez said recovered from the suspects were five sachets of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride), a weighing scale, two cellular phones, and paraphernalia in the use of illegal drugs.

She added the suspects were detained pending the filing of formal charges against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
