THE city government of Iligan, in coordination with the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade and 55th Engineer Brigade, have completed the construction of the halfway house for former New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in that city.

The Army’s 1st Infantry “Tabak” Division said in a statement Saturday, February 20, 2021, that the halfway house, dubbed as “Happy Home” constructed in Suarez village, Iligan City was inaugurated last week.

The Tabak division said the halfway house “Happy Home” is part of the main project to support the former NPA rebels, who returned to the folds of the law and will serve as their temporary home.

It said the project was constructed under the auspices of the Enhance Comprehensive Local Integration Program set by Iligan City and other government agencies.

The Tabak division said there were 32 former NPA rebels identified as recipients and provided with financial assistance and free livelihood training.

Iligan City Mayor Celso Regencia led the ribbon cutting of the facility, who also presided the Turn-over ceremony of the project. (SunStar Zamboanga)
