FOUR people, including a former village chief who is making a political comeback, were killed in a gun attack in Basilan province, a top military official said.

Brigadier General Juvymax Uy, Army’s 104th Infantry Brigade commander, said gunmen strafed the house of Usan Asani, former chairman of Barangay Camamburingan in Ungkaya Pukan town, at around 5:30 a.m. Sunday, April 22.

Asani was killed in the attack. The identities of the three other victims have not been established, except that they were Asani’s relatives.

Uy said the victims were still asleep when they were attacked.

Asani had filed his certificate of candidacy for village chief in the forthcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.
