A TOTAL of 40 associations of farmers and fisherfolks have joined the agriculture trade fair dubbed as the 19th Cosechas de Zamboanga in Zamboanga City.

The agriculture trade fair reeled off on Monday, October 2, 2023, and will run until October 15 at the historic Plaza Pershing downtown.

Mayor John Dalipe said that prioritizing the agriculture sector will remain a top agenda of his administration as he cited the crucial role played by farmers and fisher folks.

“I am inviting everyone to join the cosechas. Let us learn the science of agriculture as it is important to ensure that we will have food on the table,” Dalipe said in vernacular.

The annual event showcases agricultural crops and products of Zamboangueño farmers such as ornamental plants, fresh fruits and vegetables and numerous others.

The two-weeklong exhibit forms part of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival activities and is organized by the City Agriculturist Office in collaboration with farming associations in the city.

Aside from Dalipe, local government and Department of Agriculture officials as well as representatives from other sectors graced the opening of the Cosechas de Zamboanga.(SunStar Zamboanga)
