Farmers undergo 3-day capacity-building activity

SELECTED members of seven farmers association in the province of Zamboanga del Norte are undergoing a three-day capacity building in Dipolog City, the province’s capital.

The Department of Agriculture (DA)-Zamboanga Peninsula office said in a statement that the activity, which started Tuesday, February 23, and ends Thursday, February 25, 2021, aimed to capacitate Zamboanga del Norte farmers to engage more in agriculture entrepreneurship and agribusiness.

It is also geared to strengthen the Bayanihan Agri-Clusters in the Zamboanga Peninsula.

The participants were from the associations of the following: Sindangan FACOMA Multi-purpose Cooperative; Cassava Growers and Processors Association; GGEMCOSS Liloy Corn Cluster; Zamboanga del Norte Mango and Processors Association; Dipolog Farmer's Service Provider Association; Buenavista Farmers Association; and, San Isidro Farmers Association.

The DA said the Bayanihan Agri-Clusters throughout the region serve to promote and support farms and farm production consolidation, especially on crops requiring mechanization and massive use of technology. (SunStar Zamboanga)
